Harry Potter - Reloaded!!!

A week ago there was huge excitement on Twitter after J.K Rowling published a tweet which said that James Potter is in the Kings Cross Station waiting to board the Hogwart's Express. Now this is Harry Potter's son and it means that we are going to get a sequel (Yayyyy!!!!). Ok, I have a admission to make here. I never read the Harry Potter series ever. I just own the last book in the series (which is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for the uninitiated). I bought this book quite a long time ago, honestly I do not even recall when. But I never got to reading it. I reasoned that I had to read the rest of the series to even begin the last book. I made half-hearted attempts to get the rest of books. The book I had used to glare at me accusingly from the bookshelf, but I used to smile at it sheepishly and say I am trying to read the others, can you like please wait (I do that, I am not mental or anything, I just like talking to books.....errr...Whatever...Don't judge me)

There was no particular reason why I did not want to read it. I mean no concrete reason. I just wanted to go against the tide (why I choose such tides to challenge is beyond me, but I do...). I thought the hype was too much and I was like the book can't be so good. Other than that in my library, till date, most of the copies are out in circulation (Yeah I know!!!!). Maybe people are genuinely borrowing it, or they just don't give it back. That's a whole other topic of discussion and I will write a separate blog post for the same (one of the ideas that I have).

I recently had some time in my hand and since I now have started to like fantasy series, I thought it would be best to start  with the Harry Potter series (What better way). I have also read the Cormoran Strike series by the same author (she wrote this book under the name of Robert Galbraith - Logic fails me here again, why a different name??). Again I did not want to read this book because ha ha....Ms Rowling I knew the game you were playing and I was procrastinating (Yeah, I do that most of the time and hence the un-productiveness - if that is even a word). However I got this as a Christmas present and I had to read it (Damn!!). But surprise surprise, the book turned out to be good. In fact, so good, that I read both the books and I am planning to read the third one now.

Back to the Harry Potter series (I just go off topic right), the first book was quite a thin paperback and frankly I was relieved. I started reading, and boy, I was hooked. It was such an awesome read and I was dying to get my hand on the next book and then the next. I did not enjoy "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" as much as the others, but still, it was a good read. The only thing that I wanted and wished for (and yes, this will make me sound mental), was that the weather would be dull and deary when I read the books. Unfortunately then the sun was be blazing, so yes not the perfect setting. I have finished the entire series now, but the last book. Unfortunately it glares quite a lot nowadays...I just show it a copy of whatever book I am reading at that time and slink away in shame. Also the weather now is perfect so I am sure I will enjoy the last book immensely. I do want to take it back to my house (my hometown to be precise), and keep it in the bookshelf there. It's a massive one. I will take a picture when I am there the next time and maybe write a blog about the collection. It's a combination of my books and my sisters and dad's books (there we go off topic again).

I am waiting for the sequel now. But I just hope Ms Rowling manages to keep the magic and not burst the bubble around it. There are a couple of critics who say that she is doing the wrong thing and should just let the series be. Apparently there was an attempt to re-launch Star-Trek with modern day special effects and it fell flat on its face. But I am going to keep an open mind (Also another secret, mostly the critics and I think in the opposite ways, so yes...What most people hate I love and vice-versa)

Let's see........Fingers crossed.
